THE Givebox
OK, so in this blog post, everything is about the photo post processing I did... Well, actually no, everything is about the Givebox, but I think the software preset I used helps to get accross the Givebox concept even better. Are you following? Ha, whatever...
These photos are from the present, but the Givebox concept seems to belong to the past. This is the reason why I decided to give it a 60's look. Maybe a 50's - post war - look would have been better, or actually a 70's look - hippie/beatnik... Haha, after some research, the hippie sub-culture arose in the mid-60's, so I'm totally in it! am I losing you? -, but I would have no idea how to do this... I would need to play even more with the software, use all the sliders... and you would see the photos next year...
So, what is the Givebox? The Givebox is like a big cupboard in the middle of Flingern (last post about Flingern for now, I promise!) in which you can put whatever you want, and take whatever you want. Books, clothes, things for the home, etc.
There are just a few rules to follow:
- you have to write something in the visitors' book about what you are bringing,
- if you take something then you need to say 'thank you' in the visitors' book,
- also, if you see that something that you have left in the Givebox is not gone within 2 weeks, then you need to take it back, and probably throw it away.
What a cool concept! And it is surprising that it actually really works! Noone comes up with their car, puts everything in the boot, drives off and sells the lot on ebay. People are civilised!
Wow, I was impressed!
You can follow it on Facebook if you want!
Any similar things happening close to where you live? Any other cool initiative?
PS: And didn't I write last Saturday that Flingern was the hipsters' disctrict in Düsseldorf? Well, la boucle est bouclée as we would say it in French! We've come full circle.
